4 years ago my life was plagued with busyness. Full calendars. Packed to-do lists. Always “getting things done” but never truly making progress. Weeks blurred together. But despite all the effort, not much changed. I was running on a treadmill that kept getting faster, yet I stayed put. Why? I wan’t lazy. I wasn’t wasting hours on TikTok or video games all day. I was working hard… that’s what we’re supposed to do right? Yes and no. Hard work matters. And yes, we need to “get things done.” But not all things are created equal. Our results in business, career, and life aren’t determined by the sheer number of boxes we check. They’re determined by whether we check the right ones. In fact, the fastest way to make meaningful progress is often to do less. Do less = achieve more. It feels counterintuitive, but it’s true. There are endless things you could do that seem related to your goals.
But only a handful of actions will actually move the needle. So how do you know what’s worth doing? Well that’s the hard part… and it’ll take more than one email to unpack. But here’s a starting point: define the daily lifestyle you actually want to live. If an action doesn’t move you closer to that lifestyle, chances are it’s not worth doing. I dive deeper into these ideas in my course Purposeful Productivity. It launches next Monday, October 6th. Click here to join 1100+ people on the waitlist so you don’t miss it.
